Three loads to the same distribution center this month, each with over four hours of waiting. Detention was due after two hours, but none was paid. The broker disputes the times. Gate photos and stamped BOLs are attached.
Has anyone else had this problem? Would a detention standard with clear evidence requirements help us get paid?
Same DC, same story in July. Six hours, paid nothing. I have the rate con with detention terms if it helps the record.
Company drivers lose time too. Clear time-stamp requirements would help us document the wait.
Broker here. When the carrier sends stamped BOL plus gate photos inside 24 hours, I can usually collect. The standard should say exactly that.
Discuss unpaid waiting, layover, lumper fees and TONU. Share stamped BOLs and gate logs to help members draft a detention pay standard.
Topics: detention · layover · unpaid wait time · lumpers · TONU · shipper/receiver accountability
